The KintyreMag
WebEdition 52 / May/June 2002
Welcome to the Fifty-second WebEdition of The Magazine.
So. Here we all are again. Welcome to the latest edition. So many things have happened in our world since we last met - not all of them good, I'm sorry to say - but we soldier on.
The editor of the hard copy Magazine -
Mr Angus Martin - wrote to me about some of the exciting projects he is
currently working on, and has offered the online Magazine some excerpts from his
new book 'Herring Fishermen of Kintyre and Ayrshire'. I, of course, accepted his
offer gladly, so we should soon see more of Angus's excellent writings. I'll
also tell you how to get a hold of your own copy. Further, another of Angus Martin's projects is a compilation of
local words and phrases - dialect.
So more about that later
Helen and I are gearing up for our holiday to North Carolina in May. We are so looking forward to that, and to seeing some of our good friends. Our trip will be taking in Chimney Rock, Balsam Grove, Franklin, Dillsboro, Gatlinburg, Townsend Tennessee, Pigeon Forge, The Blue Ridge Parkway, Boone, various parts of Virginia and so much more.. We can hardly wait!
If you have the time, and inclination, have a look at this

It's a cracking shop, and I bought my Tilley Hat there. Go see.
A bit of sad news. I received an email from a lady who had discovered that I had posted - in the Surnames and Searchers Archive - an email that she'd sent to me regarding her genealogy. She was upset at finding the information there. This leads me, therefore, to repeat my advice: If you are sending me emails for info, or anything else, ensure that you tell me if you don't want them published in Wee Drams. If it's a problem with your email address, I'll be quite happy to publish them without your address, using my address as a go-between. Over to you.
Finally, I wish you all well and hope that life is as good for you as it is for me.
Until the next time,
Ca' canny
