IT IS A SMALL WORLD AFTER ALL !!!
PART 2
I told you when I wrote the first Part of this story that I would he writing a second part of it.
While I was looking on the Web for some information on Giffen house in Kintyre, Scotland, I came across a Web publication called Kintyre Mag. Ian Forshaw is the publisher of Kintyre Mag.
I was also looking for any articles on Ripley Castle which is the Ancestral Home of a Friend in Amherst, Nova Scotia Canada by The name of Joyce Ripley Brown. I found the name of a possible relative of Joyce’s who lives in Ontario, Canada. Several times I have written him, but I have only heard the once from him.
I wrote to Ian and explained what it was I was interested in. The genealogy of Meg who just wanted to know something of her Family’s history. We were able to find both the remains of Giffen House and Giffen Castle. Giffen Castle is still a viable building which is currently used for a Bed/Breakfast Home and is also a protected Historical Site. I wish to thank Ian for becoming part of our Genealogical Site and for the photos and info he has sent our members.
I have just finished writing to Frances Hastings Smith who remembers my parents Hila and Smith Hilton. I found in my files the small photo of my Mom and I taken in December of 1939. I was underweight and Mom was not well at the time. My Mom passed away on Feb. 15 of 1994 and my Dad passed away on Dec. 28, 1994 after 63 years of Marriage.
I wish to thank Gerald and Marjorie Hastings. Gerald is the brother of Frances Hastings Smith. 1 also wish to thank my Sister, Marilyn Ruth McCulloch for her memories of Frances at 3 & 4 years of age.
